About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Emelia's Child Development Centre. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods for our children and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring high-quality and presentation standards.
  • Kitchen Operations Management: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and organization, and maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, and provide guidance on kitchen operations and food safety protocols.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean kitchen and work areas, and maintain a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, and ensure that all kitchen operations are running smoothly and efficiently.
Personal Qualities and Skills
  • Reliability: Demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and centre staff to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and children.
  • Hours and Work Schedule: Work 35-40 hours per week, with a regular schedule and occasional flexibility to meet the needs of the centre.
