Job Title: Part-Time Professor

Georgian College is seeking a Part-Time Professor to join our team in the Electrical Apprentice Program.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified individual to develop and deliver courses in the Electrical Apprentice Program. The successful candidate will have a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician – Construction and Maintenance (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A), and experience in curriculum development, teaching, and training adults.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver courses in Electronics, Instrumentations, Theory, and Installations as outlined by the Apprenticeship curriculum standard for Electrical apprenticeship.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching/learning strategies to meet student needs.
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement.
  • Participate in program and college activities as required.
  • Participate in program revision and renewal activities as required.
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician – Construction and Maintenance (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A).
  • Familiarity with industry software, standards, and current work practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safe work culture, life-long learning, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students.
  • Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery and evaluation strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies.
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and/or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset.
