Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Contract Shelter Supervisors at Homes First. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shelters, ensuring the well-being and safety of our clients, and providing guidance and support to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise a team of staff members, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure they are meeting their job responsibilities.
    • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve team performance and productivity.
  • Client Services
    • Provide case management services to clients, including assessment, advocacy, referral, and support.
    • Develop and implement individualized case plans to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Operations and Administration
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shelter, including managing staff schedules, coordinating services, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Manage and maintain accurate records and statistics, including client data and shelter operations.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, clients, community partners, and government agencies.
    • Communicate effectively with staff, clients, and stakeholders, providing clear and concise information and updates.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or a related field.
    • At least 3 years of experience working with homeless populations, including experience in case management, supervision, and program development.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and guidelines, including Toronto Shelter Standards.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing guidance and support to staff members.
