About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mill Maintenance Superintendent to join our team at Teck Resources Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance activities of our fixed plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Leadership: Provide courageous safety leadership, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Maintenance Planning: Embed safe work systems and practices, promote a work environment that supports safe and efficient behavior, and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Development: Encourage leadership amongst team members through development planning, clear objective setting, and recognition, and actively support the career development of the team.
  • Cost Effectiveness: Ensure the cost-effectiveness of mill maintenance activities and support the cost-effectiveness of mill operations through the implementation of an effective maintenance program.
  • Asset Management: Develop and implement an asset management strategy through the direction of the Mill Reliability team, to ensure the efficient and timely planning, scheduling, and execution of work.
  • Collaboration: Work with representatives from various departments to ensure that overall site production targets are met.
  • Budgeting: Develop departmental operating and capital budgets, and be accountable for plan variances and ensure completeness and consistency in cost reporting and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Collective Agreement Administration: Ensure that the Mill Maintenance department administers the collective agreement in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures.
  • Long-Term Development: Ensure that a long-term development plan is in place and executed upon to optimize the efficiency of maintenance execution.
Requirements
  • Extensive Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of mining practices, equipment capabilities, mechanical/electrical maintenance principles, budgeting/costing systems, maintenance planning systems, and appropriate regulations and standards.
  • Education: A BSc. in Engineering or equivalent with Mechanical specialization or equivalent combination of education and maintenance experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years' of progressively senior level experience, preferably in a unionized environment, with considerable experience in operating departments of base metal concentrators, including working with technical groups.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven and exemplary leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to work effectively with other roles in a team environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and workload in a fast-paced environment.
