Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at the Craig Mine site in Sudbury, Ontario, working on the Onaping Depth Project.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice and strategies to Project personnel on health and safety issues to achieve the goal of 'no harm.'
- Implement the Project Health and Safety Policy, Safety Management Plan, and standards with the Project Management Team.
- Maximize time in the field to assess risks, inspect safety protocols, and monitor compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Assist in pre-award tender assessment and contract administration in relation to health and safety requirements and expectations.
- Review and approve contractor's safety management plans and safe operating procedures before work commences.
- Define local statutory and regulatory requirements and communicate to personnel engaged in the Project.
- Lead and facilitate the health and safety hazard analysis and risk assessment process across all disciplines and functional groups.
- Participate in incident investigations and reporting in areas assigned.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate incident reporting, analysis, and statistical returns.
- Measure the implementation of corrective actions from health and safety audits and incident investigations.
- Ensure health and safety indicators and reviews are planned, implemented, and reported.
- Coordinate and submit weekly health and safety leading indicator and information reports.
- Review emergency response plans.
- Participate in the health and safety audit program.
- Perform duties as stipulated in the Project Safety Management Plan and as directed by the Project Health & Safety Manager.
- 8 to 10 years' experience in underground mining health and safety.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A high level of computer skills.
- A high level of organizational skills.
- A passion for continual improvement of health and safety performance.
- Ability to lead and motivate on-site teams in health and safety.
