The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to lead our Zumba classes.

Job Summary

The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for planning, implementing, and facilitating safe, effective, and motivating Zumba classes for our community members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging fitness classes in accordance with the Town's program standards and industry best practices.
  • Prepare lesson plans and associated music for each class.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including attendance tracking, participant sign-in, and monitoring of pay-go passes.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, supervisor, and other staff to ensure a positive and inclusive program experience.
  • Monitor program space and equipment condition and report any concerns to the Fitness Coordinator or Active Living Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Zumba Instructor certification.
  • Canfitpro FIS certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the fitness industry teaching Zumba and/or leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Zumba choreography, exercise prescription/modifications, and program planning.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C.
  • Maintains a high level of physical fitness as required to perform the role.
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to provide a Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector screening dated within the last six months that is satisfactory to the Town.

What We Offer

  • Rate of Pay: $42.09 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a part-time non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, various shifts between 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.
