Indigenous Community Liaison

FortisBC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our Community and Indigenous Initiatives team as a Community and Indigenous Initiatives Intern. This is a temporary 2-year position that offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in community and relationship building, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with local communities, municipalities, and Indigenous communities
- Support the Community and Indigenous Initiatives team in various tasks, including stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and event planning
- Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences
- Perform administrative duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Indigenous post-secondary graduate from a trades or technical program, diploma, degree, or higher level of education program from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
- Be a BC resident
- Hold a valid Social Insurance Number and be able to work for a period of two years
- A valid BC Driver's License and ability to travel throughout FortisBC service areas
Additional Information:
- As part of the program expectations, all successful candidates are required to work with their university to prepare application documents, commit to a two-year employment placement, and fulfill all job requirements as agreed to with their employer
- Be responsible for transportation to and from work and personal daily accommodations and expenses
- Be available for regular check-ins by phone or email
- Participate in training opportunities developed by the First Nations Public Service Secretariat and delivered as part of the IILP
