Position Overview:
We are in search of a dedicated individual to spearhead pre-clinical research initiatives that will facilitate the commercialization of our groundbreaking technology. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a candidate eager to gain experience in managing, planning, and executing pre-clinical studies. These studies will play a crucial role in guiding the advancement of our technology as we prepare for first-in-human trials. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up atmosphere and will collaborate closely with the engineering team to refine study protocols based on outcomes and technological advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study Management: Independently design and conduct pre-clinical studies, including ex-vivo and longitudinal in-vivo investigations aimed at evaluating ultrasound imaging and therapeutic efficacy.
- Tissue Handling: Execute tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining utilizing various histological methodologies with precision.
- Microscopic Analysis: Perform thorough microscopic evaluations of prepared tissue slides using available technologies, documenting findings meticulously.
- Specimen Oversight: Acquire tissue samples and ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Equipment Management: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment utilized in clinical experiments and histological procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of study outcomes and provide timely updates to team members as necessary.
- Research Support: Conduct literature reviews, compile findings, and assist with clinical documentation as required.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety, ethical, and regulatory standards, particularly those pertaining to laboratory safety.
- Additional Duties: Due to the nature of a start-up environment, perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Experience: Previous involvement in pre-clinical research, with expertise in tissue preparation and histology, and/or longitudinal in-vivo studies. Familiarity with ultrasound imaging or therapy is advantageous.
Skills:
- Expertise in managing research studies, including writing and executing research protocols focused on tissue studies.
- Proficient in histological techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily conducted in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Exposure to biological specimens, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.
- Potential travel to partner research facilities.
- May require prolonged periods of standing and the lifting of light to moderate laboratory supplies and equipment.
