Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a Clinical Extern to join our team. As a Clinical Extern, you will work alongside our healthcare professionals to provide support and care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with healthcare teams to identify patient care needs
  • Act as a resource to the interprofessional team for patient care tasks, supplies, equipment, and transportation
  • Assist with personal hygiene care, patient positioning, and transfers
  • Assist with patient ambulation, toileting, and with meals, including feeding
  • Assist with patient and family communication
  • Other duties as assigned to support the care team

Qualifications

  • Must be a Nursing Student between 2nd and 4th year of a College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) approved Baccalaureate Nursing (BScN or BN) program, or in final year of a Practical Nursing (PN) program
  • Must be available a minimum of hours per week, and have a flexible availability
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
