Position Overview

The Global Customer eXperience (GCX) division at Warner Bros. Discovery is a dynamic and high-performing team that operates at the exciting intersection of technology, streaming, and entertainment. Our mission is to empower content creators in the digital landscape by leveraging cutting-edge technology to craft immersive viewing experiences for our renowned brands, including DiscoveryPlus and Max.

We are currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer specializing in Android development to enhance our Android team.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate closely with fellow Android engineers, design teams, product managers, and program managers to develop innovative features, resolve issues, and manage essential technical improvements. This is an excellent opportunity to spearhead critical initiatives, contribute to a high-performance streaming application, and work with a diverse group of engineers across various locations to deliver impactful projects and new application architectures. Your collaborative efforts will influence the entire suite of Android platform applications, including Android mobile, Android Auto, Android TV, and Amazon's Fire devices.

The ideal candidate will possess strong coding abilities, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Proven experience in Android application development; familiarity with Kotlin is advantageous.
  3. At least 4 years of professional experience in software development.
  4. Excellent communication skills with a solid understanding of product requirements and priorities.
  5. Strong grasp of creating testable, scalable, and resilient software products.
  6. Ability to recommend technical advancements and software improvements for our applications.
  7. Openness to participate in large-scale cross-platform projects across multiple countries.
  8. Experience working with various stakeholders, both internal and external, with differing goals and aspirations. Effective communication is essential.
  9. Knowledge of key design and architectural patterns, including MVVM, MVI, and SOLID principles.
  10. Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and relevant frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito) is preferred.
  11. Understanding of RESTful APIs and their implementation.
  12. Awareness of development best practices, including coding standards.
