Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at Definity. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for assessing, accepting, and declining new business submissions, as well as re-underwriting and negotiating renewals and policy endorsements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate new business submissions to determine risk and potential for growth
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with brokers and other stakeholders
  • Provide technical support and guidance to brokers and other team members
  • Participate in production calls and meetings to discuss business opportunities and challenges
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • University degree in any discipline or a 2-year diploma from a publicly recognized and funded college or a completed CIP designation
  • High degree of proficiency in English required to service customers across Canada
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting, with established relationships with key brokers
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to quickly interpret data and information
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
