Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems Specialist

**Job Summary**

Morson Talent (Canada & USA) is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing electrical power distribution systems for operating nuclear and industrial plants.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Develop and implement electrical power distribution designs and analysis for nuclear and industrial plants, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment, including transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, and generators, to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs, to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency, and to minimize downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Perform engineering change design and analysis, following established procedures, to optimize system performance and ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Conduct electrical analysis, equipment protection, and cable selection to ensure safe and efficient operation, and to minimize the risk of electrical accidents and equipment damage.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and technicians, to identify and resolve client problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Manage projects and lead design teams to deliver high-quality results, and to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in electrical design and analysis, and to apply this knowledge to improve our engineering processes and deliverables.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Industrial Control Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a proven track record in electrical design and analysis, and a strong understanding of generating station power upgrades, including system protection, stability, and relaying.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, including transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, and generators, and the ability to perform condition assessments and develop life cycle plans.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in project management and leading technical projects to successful conclusions, and a strong understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation.
  • Professional Engineer (PEO) status or eligibility, with a passion for engineering and a commitment to innovation.
