The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is seeking a highly skilled Investigator to join their team. As an Investigator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that public bodies comply with access to information and protection of privacy legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate complaints and requests for review under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Health Information Act;
- Conduct complex and specialized investigations, including own-motion and systemic investigations;
- Provide recommendations to the Information and Privacy Commissioner on appropriate resolutions;
- Mediate and conciliate between applicants/complainants and public bodies, where possible;
- Develop and deliver educational programs to the public and public bodies about access to information and protection of privacy legislation;
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained by the OIPC and protect the privacy of applicants and third parties.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant academic discipline, such as law, social sciences, or privacy and security;
- Minimum of three years of experience interpreting and applying access to information and protection of privacy legislation;
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a variety of people with varying backgrounds and knowledge levels;
- Ability to work independently and maintain neutrality and objectivity.
The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner offers a competitive salary range of $78,332 - $97,910, commensurate with education and experience. We also offer health benefits, pension, and other discretionary benefits.
