Job Title: Journeyman/Woman Plumber

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman/Woman Plumber to join our team at Star Mechanical (Edm) Ltd. in Edmonton, Alberta.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, including water supply networks, waste and drainage systems, and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plumbing codes and regulations, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size
  • Measure and lay out reference points for installation
  • Handle, recover, and store refrigerants
  • Coach and instruct apprentices
  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
  • Provide customer service
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
  • Start up systems and test for leaks using testing devices
  • Perform maintenance, such as recharging systems with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators, or calibrating systems
  • Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Level one to five apprenticeship training
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Steel-toed safety boots and tools
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy loads and work in confined spaces
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
