Job Summary

As a key member of the Group Risk Management team at Royal Bank of Canada, the Associate Director will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of data and models. This includes developing and implementing control activities, assessing process completeness, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data and model governance frameworks
  • Participate in design sessions to provide input and gather requirements
  • Contribute to Enterprise Model Risk Management (EMRM) submissions, including documentation
  • Lead governance-related activities, including issue management and preparation of issue memo closures
  • Develop control frameworks, guidelines, and procedures
  • Design and implement controls and quality assurance tools
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of model monitoring reports
Requirements
  • Quantitative background, with expertise in programming and querying languages (e.g., SQL, Python)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Data Management, Model Governance, and Risk concepts
  • Prior working experience with model risk management frameworks, quality assurance frameworks, risk mitigation, and issue remediation
  • Effective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strategic thinking skills with proven ability to drive results in a cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of E&S data landscape: common challenges and available solutions
  • Risk management experience, particularly in relation to E&S
