Environmental Services I Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Environmental Services I to join our team at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center. As an Environmental Services I, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and isolation cleaning protocols, including disinfecting patient rooms, clinical spaces, and common areas.
  • Operate scrubbers, buffers, and burnishers to maintain floor care.
  • Remove waste, including garbage, shredding, and biomedical waste, to designated holding areas.
  • Restock supplies in bathroom facilities and strip and remake beds.
  • Identify and report potential hazards to your Working Leader.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and operation of a computer, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
  • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 22 lbs of force.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and follow oral and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work-related experience in cleaning and knowledge of hospital cleaning procedures and equipment.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Environmental Services leadership experience, such as working leader, shift lead, training, or equivalent.

Working Conditions: This position requires working in a busy and fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, nights, and weekend shifts.
