About the Role:
The City of Burnaby is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drainage Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing design standards relevant to Drainage, including watercourses, culverts, ravines, and flood management features such as dikes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct or direct engineering studies pertaining to Drainage, including the inspection and monitoring of program while preparing comprehensive reports including recommendations.
- Develop the capital program and budget for Drainage; oversee the development of planned maintenance programs.
- Review applications and identify infrastructure required by development.
- Take the lead and serve as the technical specialist expert for Drainage responding to and supporting internal and external queries or requirements as required.
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and committees in providing information, reports, and assistance on matters related to the work.
Requirements:
- University degree in Engineering, Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng) and a minimum of 15 years of professional engineering experience.
- Ability to assign, supervise and review the work of subordinates; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
- Work independently and within a team environment; problem solve; communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, and accomplish objectives in a timely manner.
- Skilled in the use of various office and software applications related to work such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
