Exciting Opportunity for a Transmission Line Engineer in Training

Wood is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transmission Line Engineer in Training to join our team in Calgary, AB or one of our other locations across Canada. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transmission lines using industry-leading software such as PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop transmission lines using PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE software
  • Collaborate with our Engineering team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Provide technical support for transmission projects
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of electrical and structural aspects of transmission lines
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
Requirements:
  • Transmission, Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering degree from a recognized university
  • Professional Engineering designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA or similar
  • 0-3 years of transmission line engineering experience
  • Proven experience in a Transmission Utility or EPC organization
  • Knowledge of electrical or structural aspects of transmission lines
  • Knowledge of underground cable transmission line design
  • Knowledge of transmission materials such as structures, conductors/OHSW, OPGW/ADSS, insulators, hardware accessories and fittings
  • Direct experience on the safety aspects of the design of high voltage transmission lines
  • Utility-specific knowledge of standards and safety requirements
  • Construction support experience for Transmission projects
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
