Job Title: Deck Attendant

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Deck Attendant to join our team at the Athletics and Wellness Centre. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all students and patrons using our swimming pools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of all pool users by maintaining a vigilant presence on deck and responding promptly to emergencies.
  • Support instructional swimming lessons by assisting instructors and communicating effectively with swimmers of all ages.
  • Monitor pool areas and maintain cleanliness, including picking up equipment and storing it in its proper place.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as taking attendance and logging information into our online database.
  • Collaborate with other team members to provide a positive and respectful experience for all pool users.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 14 years of age.
  • Current Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid & CPR 'C' certification.
  • Knowledge and practice of Lifesaving and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Instructor and/or Aquatic Volunteer is an asset.
Working Conditions:
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling.
  • Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces.
Compensation:

$17.20/hour
