Role Overview: As a vital member of the monitoring team within Bach-Simpson, you will report directly to the Product Line Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include the design, commissioning, and technical support of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems for Transit and Locomotive applications, encompassing a range of complexities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to transition new products from prototype to production.
  • Conduct comprehensive technical tasks, including reviewing specifications, project documentation, circuit design, and product testing.
  • Interpret and analyze PCB, electrical, and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Design and validate electrical circuits, schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware fixtures.
  • Generate precise Bills of Materials (BOMs), Test Instructions, and Assembly and Wiring Instructions.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation and provide time estimates for task completion.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with industry standards through rigorous testing and certification processes.
  • Engage in Embedded C Programming and testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in circuit design, showcasing a robust portfolio of successful projects.
  • Proficiency in electronic design software, particularly Altium Designer and OrCAD.
  • Strong grasp of circuit theory and PCB design principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic components, including diodes, transistors, optoelectronic devices, display technologies, and power sources.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Understanding of electronic and electrical systems design and programming.
  • Programming expertise in C and experience with real-time, multi-threaded, or memory-constrained operating systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant testing and certification standards for electronic equipment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent fault-finding, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as necessary (10% or less).
  • Able to travel to the US for business purposes.
