Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Robert B. Somerville Co. Limited is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to provide expert guidance and support to our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, and conducting workplace inspections and investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training and information to employers, employees, and the general public on health and safety matters.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collect and analyze samples of materials for analysis.
  • Inspect workplaces for safety and health hazards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and illnesses.
  • Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close establishments.
  • Manage training and development strategies.
  • Oversee the development of communication strategies.
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports.
  • Respond to employee questions and complaints.
  • Liaise with management, union officials, and HR consultants.
  • Evaluate work environments, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
  • Assign, coordinate, and review projects and programs.
  • Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure compliance with regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 years or more of experience in health and safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
