Position Overview

The Cariboo Child Care Society is seeking a dedicated Culinary Specialist to manage and execute meal preparation in a vibrant childcare environment. This role is essential in ensuring that children receive nutritious and well-balanced meals.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
Work Environment
  • Located in an urban area, the role involves working with community service organizations and daycare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee special events related to food service.
  • Assess food portion sizes and associated costs.
  • Plan menus and accurately estimate food requirements for successful execution.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals and individual dishes.
  • Order necessary supplies and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and records of food and supplies.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and work areas.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations efficiently.
Certifications Required
  • Cook Trade Certification.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Food Safety Certificate.
Experience in Community Service

Experience working within community service organizations is preferred.

Safety and Security
  • Vulnerable sector check is mandatory.
Transportation
  • Access to personal transportation is required, although public transportation options are available.
Work Conditions
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks are essential.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and work under pressure.
