About the Role

The British Columbia Securities Commission is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to join our Enforcement team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting investigations involving breaches of the Securities Act.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct financial analysis and data analytics to identify potential breaches of securities laws
  2. Collect, organize, and analyze financial and trade data to support investigations
  3. Attend investigative interviews and prepare schedules, charts, and tables of evidence for use in hearings
  4. Testify at hearings and provide expert advice on accounting rules and requirements
  5. Review financial statements and provide recommendations for improvement
  6. Communicate with auditors and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with securities laws

Requirements

  1. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze and interpret large datasets
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  4. A highly analytical personality with natural skepticism and a strong attention to detail
