Position Overview:

Alberta Innovates is on the lookout for a Cybersecurity Operations Manager to spearhead cybersecurity initiatives across the organization and its subsidiaries, InnoTech Alberta and C-FER Technologies. This pivotal role combines technical expertise with leadership, aimed at enhancing the overall security framework through the implementation of innovative technologies, establishment of robust cybersecurity policies, and expansion of the Cybersecurity Education program. Your leadership will be crucial in enabling secure and efficient business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Threat Monitoring and Analysis: Collaborate with external cybersecurity vendors to ensure continuous surveillance for potential threats, analyze security incidents, and implement timely responses.
  • Identity and Access Management: Formulate policies and procedures that guarantee secure, repeatable, and auditable operations.
  • Security Tool Oversight: Manage the deployment and configuration of essential security tools such as SIEM and advanced firewalls.
  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct thorough vulnerability assessments, prioritize risks, and coordinate remediation efforts with relevant teams.
  • Incident Response Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive incident response strategies, coordinating efforts during security breaches and conducting post-incident evaluations.
  • Security Awareness Training: Lead initiatives to educate employees on cybersecurity best practices, enhancing the organization’s overall security culture.
  • Talent Development: Recruit and nurture cybersecurity professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Performance Management: Establish clear performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, and recognize team achievements.
  • Risk Management: Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred.
  • Over 8 years of experience in information security, IT infrastructure, and network operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in implementing cloud-based security solutions and managing IT architecture.
