Opportunity Overview:
The Step Up Step Down (SUSD) program is a voluntary initiative focused on mental health and addiction treatment for youth. This program encompasses both a residential treatment option and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). We are seeking a dedicated Family Counsellor to serve as the primary clinician delivering therapeutic interventions to families involved in our inpatient and outpatient services.
The successful candidate will play a vital role within a multidisciplinary team at the innovative Center for Excellence, where various agencies collaborate to offer optimal care to children, youth, and families through a trauma-informed approach.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Psychologist I, your responsibilities will include providing a comprehensive range of standard psychology services to patients and their families, adhering to established standards, directives, and policies. Your services may encompass psychological evaluations, diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, rehabilitation, prevention strategies, and educational initiatives.
You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to plan and implement services that align with best practices and ethical standards. Your contributions will involve offering insights into psychological factors, barriers, and dynamics that affect client treatment planning, engagement, outcomes, and team effectiveness. Additionally, you will collaborate with community services and may supervise psychometrists, provisional psychologists, and/or graduate psychology students. Your role may also include providing input into program, policy, and procedure development, as well as participating in formal research projects.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited university program, specializing in an applied area relevant to the practice setting. You must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of five years of post-graduate experience working with children, youth, and families facing complex challenges is required.
