Job Summary:

HORIBA Canada Inc. is seeking a skilled Computer Numerical Control Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision machining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to determine the machining operation to be performed and plan the best sequence of operations.
  • Compute Dimensions and Tolerances: Compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out work pieces to ensure accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  • Operate and Maintain Machine Tools: Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including CNC tools, to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding, and other operations.
  • Verify Product Dimensions: Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Program Machine Tools: Set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
  • Ensure Documentation and Safety: Ensure all documentation is properly filled out, control allocated time on components, route sheets, and equipment maintenance records. Promote a safe environment and ensure safety while handling workpieces.
  • Perform Daily Maintenance: Ensure daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment for efficient function and to minimize downtime, identify equipment problems, and communicate solutions as required.
  • Proficiency in CAD Software: Be proficient with AutoCAD and Alibre design software.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a machinist, specifically with CNC programming experience.
  • Education: Completed secondary school or have a credential assessment confirming equivalency. The completion of a 2-year Electromechanical Engineering Technician course is an asset.
  • Language: The applicant must speak, read, and write in English.
  • Compensation: Successful candidates will be remunerated at $28.50 per hour and receive health benefits.
