Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Shipping Manager to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our logistics department, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling activities related to shipping and warehousing finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of shipping and warehousing personnel to ensure efficient and accurate processing of goods.
- Plan and coordinate the arrival and departure of trailers/containers, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Verify and count all imports of finished goods, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, such as the CRA, to address inspections and questions related to goods destruction or export.
- Conduct quality control checks on finished goods and verify production daily.
- Work closely with the Logistics team to maintain SAP systems, ensuring seamless movement of virtual inventory between the plant and warehouses.
- Analyze and implement corrective measures to improve shipping processes and reduce costs.
- Coordinate production plans with partners, ensuring efficient order close-out, critical goods, and month-end procedures.
- Support production operations related to packaging image changes, government legislation, and new product introductions.
- Coordinate exports of tobacco materials from the MTL plant to other JTI facilities.
- Maintain open communication channels between the plant and various departments, including Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing Services & Logistics.
Requirements
- College degree in management or operations.
- 5 years of experience in production planning and supervision, preferably in a unionized manufacturing sector.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with SAP systems is an asset.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to mobilize and motivate team members.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
