Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Analyst to join our team in Montreal. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will be responsible for performing actuarial valuations, analyzing data, and preparing reports for clients. You will also have the opportunity to work on various projects, including retirement and post-retirement benefits, health and benefits consulting, and pension administration services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform actuarial valuations, including data validation, analysis of plan gains and losses, and preparation of valuation reports.
- Analyze financial statements and review financial agreements to suit client needs.
- Validate and compare premiums for group benefit plans under renewals, quotes, or benchmarking exercises.
- Produce quarterly experience monitoring reports for clients and analyze the impact of recent changes.
- Participate in actuarial valuations of post-retirement benefits, including data validation, setting assumptions, analyzing plan gains and losses, and preparing the valuation report.
- Work in collaboration with professionals to resolve technical actuarial problems specific to group insurance and the business sector.
- Assist in updating national databases of Mercer clients.
- Design and implement strategies to manage defined benefit pension plan volatility, including funding strategy, plan design, and risk transfer solutions.
- Work in an integrated team of professionals from different offices to resolve modern actuarial problems in the Canadian retirement benefits landscape, including union negotiations, risk transfer, and public policy.
Requirements
- Completion of one (1) year towards a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, administration, or a related field when internship begins.
- Superior analytical skills and working knowledge of Excel and other MS-Office software programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Intellectual curiosity; seeking opportunities to develop new skills.
- Strong aptitude for teamwork and a willingness to be adaptable to meet deadlines and accommodate shifting client needs.
- Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Bilingualism (English/French).
