About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Coach to join our team at SAIT. As a key member of our Athletics and Recreation department, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of our student-athletes and contributing to the success of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management Support
    • Assist the Head Coach with administrative, logistical, and financial requirements for the program
    • Support the team with all related activities, in collaboration with Trojans administration and assigned sport coordinators
  • Coaching
    • Create an environment that aligns with SAIT's values and fosters holistic growth of student-athletes and staff
    • Develop a culture of excellence that motivates athletes and staff to strive for their best
    • Conduct effective practices and training sessions that allow student-athletes to improve, while prioritizing academics and overall success
    • Collaborate with the Head Athletic Therapist to ensure a safe and healthy environment for injury prevention and peak performance
  • Administration
    • Adhere to all Trojans and ACAC requirements regarding athlete onboarding, including transfers, LOIs, nominations, and required training sessions
    • Comply with SAIT policies, procedures, and protocols, including p-card purchasing, web time entry, mandatory SafeSport training, facility access controls, and brand alignment
    • Manage team scheduling, planning, and structuring, including communications
    • Complete ACAC post-event reports and evidence of impact as needed
    • Submit required documentation in a timely fashion
    • Ensure compliance with SAIT's EDI policies and promote a culture of inclusivity and respect
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • High School Diploma
    • NCCP Registration and pursuit of sport-specific training
    • Preferred: Degree or Diploma, NCCP Entry Level sport-specific training
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Enthusiasm and passion for sports and student-athlete development
    • Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively
    • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks
    • Active problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
    • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong time management and leadership skills
