Position Overview:

The Director of Accounting Research will be instrumental in bolstering the company's financial reporting and accounting functions. This role entails conducting thorough research and analysis on intricate accounting matters, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations, and providing technical accounting guidance to various teams within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on complex accounting issues, including emerging trends and regulatory developments.
  2. Offer technical accounting guidance and support to diverse teams, including Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Investment Management.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting challenges and implement process enhancements.
  4. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, including IFRS and Canadian securities regulations.
  5. Develop and maintain technical accounting memoranda and research documentation.
  6. Oversee the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  7. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and other necessary disclosures.
  8. Engage in special projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA designation are mandatory.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting research or a technical accounting role.
  3. In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Canadian regulations (CSA, OSC).
  4. Exceptional research and analytical capabilities.
  5. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  6. Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
