About the Role

Shared Health's Mental Health and Addictions program is seeking dedicated specialists to provide essential mental health and addiction services to individuals involved in criminal actions who have been deemed Unfit to Stand Trial or Not Criminally Responsible by the courts. As a Community Forensic Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting clients within community placements, empowering them on their journey toward recovery and well-being.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive mental health and addiction services to individuals navigating the criminal justice system.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and resources to promote client recovery and successful reintegration into the community.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, families, and community partners to ensure a holistic approach to care.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of four years of experience in community mental health settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW), Mental Health (BSc.MH), Nursing (BN), Occupational Therapy (OT), or a related field.
  • Current licensure/registration in your professional designation.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to client advocacy.
  • Familiarity with forensic and criminal justice systems.
  • Proficiency in Word Processing and Database systems.

Working Conditions

This role may require occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of our clients.
