Position Overview:

The role involves executing a diverse range of repairs and services for facilities, grounds, and equipment managed by Victoria Park Community Homes, ensuring safety and security at all times.

Compensation:

Salary range is between $50,000 and $62,858.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and fulfill resident maintenance requests as needed.
  • Deliver various notices and communications to residents on-site when required.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the property, including mechanical areas, emergency systems, and common spaces, to identify issues and initiate corrective measures.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment as directed by the Property Manager, ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • Oversee and execute ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare vacant units for new residents.
  • Coordinate with landscaping contractors to ensure proper maintenance of outdoor areas.
  • Check garbage compactor rooms and assist in maintaining cleanliness as needed.
  • Remove litter and empty waste bins from common areas regularly.
  • Diagnose and report major issues related to electrical, heating, cooling, and safety systems to the Building Manager.
  • Safely operate and maintain all tools and equipment necessary for the job.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies, notifying the Property Manager when replenishment is necessary.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting duties as required.
  • Identify maintenance supply needs for the property.
  • Conduct annual testing of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and monthly inspections of fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Organize and prioritize work tasks as determined by the Manager.
  • Perform additional related duties as outlined in the job summary.

Qualifications:

  • Dependable with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in maintaining and repairing building systems.
  • Experience in maintaining high-rise buildings and residential properties.
  • Completion of Secondary School or equivalent.
  • Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is preferred; training will be provided by the employer.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Class G Ontario Driver's license.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn regularly.
  • Must be bondable and willing to complete a Bondability Affidavit.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Standard working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional after-hours work required.
  • Must undergo a satisfactory police clearance at the employee's expense.
