We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agricultural Specialist to join our team at the Ontario Public Service. As a key member of our farm operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our farm, ensuring the highest standards of quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and Coordinate Farm Activities: Develop and implement strategies for crop growth and development, including planning for water saturation, light, and temperature.
- Manage Farm Operations: Oversee the activities of clearing fields, managing feed inventory, and purchasing machinery, livestock, seed, feed, and other supplies.
- Ensure Sustainable Practices: Implement sustainable soy farming practices, such as crop rotation, reduced-till or no-till, water and nutrient management, precision farming technology, and cover crops.
- Monitor and Maintain Farm Equipment: Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Supervise Staff and Volunteers: Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Administer First Aid: Provide first aid in emergency situations, ensuring the health and safety of farm staff and visitors.
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
- Experience: Experience an asset, or equivalent experience.
- Language: English.
- Work Term: Permanent.
- Hours: 40 hours per week.
