Position Overview

We are inviting applications for a Research Associate role within the Electrochemical Biosensing Innovations team at McMaster University. This position focuses on the advancement of cutting-edge electrochemical biosensors aimed at point-of-care diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the design, development, and evaluation of electrochemical biosensing devices.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and industry partners to translate scientific discoveries into viable diagnostic tools.
  • Design and execute experiments, analyze results, and share findings through reports and presentations.
  • Guide and mentor undergraduate and graduate students involved in related research initiatives.
  • Engage with external partners and contribute to commercialization efforts.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline obtained within the last two years.
  • Demonstrated research experience in areas such as biosensing technologies, electrochemistry, and microfluidics.
  • Strong skills in experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific communication.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the research environment.

Preferred Expertise:

  • Experience with Digital Microfluidics (DMF) and familiarity with electronic components.
  • Skills in designing biocompatible materials for wearable and implantable devices.
  • Knowledge of in-vitro diagnostics, particularly related to infectious diseases.

The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities for microfabrication and biointerface engineering, working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team.
