The Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading fitness classes to senior clients under the direction of the Program Supervisor and/or Registered Kinesiologist associated with the program and in line with the certification standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead fitness classes for senior clients.
- Work with clients to achieve their fitness goals.
- Participate in ongoing review and evaluation of service delivery.
- Attend educational in-services as required.
- Provide fall prevention education as directed.
- Report any incidents or concerns to the Supervisor.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents in accordance with legislation and VON policies.
- Report any equipment defects that may pose a risk.
- High school graduate.
- CCAA Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor is an asset.
- 2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes for older adults is an asset.
- Experience promoting health and well-being through physical activity is an asset.
- Experience working in an assisted living environment is an asset.
- Respect for client privacy and confidentiality.
- Dependability and trustworthiness.
- Good communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Fitness Instructor will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to lift and carry equipment. The ability to work well in a team environment and provide excellent customer service is essential.
