Job Title: Building Design Project Manager

At Kiewit, we are seeking a highly skilled Building Design Project Manager to join our Industrial Building Group (IBG). This role is responsible for leading the building project team, ensuring consistency and quality in overall building design execution, and driving project performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the building project team, including architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and BIM designers.
  • Manage third-party building engineering consultants, including architectural and MEP design firms.
  • Oversee project performance, including productivity, quality, and schedule.
  • Monitor project and team metrics, identifying areas for improvement and developing recovery plans as needed.
  • Support project initiation and development, ensuring projects are set up for success.
  • Manage project staffing needs, prioritizing the development of the team.
  • Drive communication within the project team and with stakeholders, ensuring understanding of ongoing activities, contractual requirements, budget, and project schedule.
  • Collaborate with the estimating department to leverage lessons from production.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with EPC project stakeholders, representing IBG's center of excellence for buildings.
  • Attend weekly project meetings and run internal coordination meetings.
  • Provide accurate forecasting of project manpower needs and define project schedules and document control metrics.
  • Drive the EPC mindset on the project team and ensure knowledge of project contract requirements and estimate details.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant design experience and 2 years of relevant building project management experience leading a team of at least 4 individuals.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Architect license in Quebec required.
  • Basic knowledge of multi-discipline industrial building design.
  • Strong leadership experience, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with a group of experienced professionals.
  • Fluency in French and functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset.
