Sprinkler System Fitter Job Description

Haven Fire Protection Ltd. is seeking a skilled Sprinkler System Fitter to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing sprinkler systems to ensure the safety of our clients and their properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule materials, tools, and personnel to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Instruct apprentices in the installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems.
  • Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment.
  • Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems and sprinkler and fire protection equipment.
  • Install valves, alarms, and associated equipment.
  • Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment.
  • Service and repair sprinkler systems.
  • Supervise other workers to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Test systems for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment.
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush systems.
  • Cut openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines.
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size.
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems.
  • Select type and size of pipe required.
  • Test systems for leaks using testing equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
Requirements:
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in sprinkler system installation and maintenance.
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
