Job Title: Senior Java Developer

About the Role:

The Senior Java Developer is a senior-level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Partnership: Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.
  2. Problem-Solving: Resolve variety of high-impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
  3. Technical Expertise: Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
  4. Standards Development: Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  5. Business Acumen: Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
  6. Analysis and Innovation: Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
  7. Leadership and Mentorship: Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  8. Risk Management: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: 6-10 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
  2. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Framework such as Spring Boot.
  3. High-Performance Systems: Able to implement high throughput, low-latency, extremely reliable frameworks.
  4. Java Technology: Deep understanding of Java technology such as garbage collection internal, dependency injection, annotation, threading model, and synchronization primitives.
  5. Microservices Architecture: Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  6. Database Technologies: Experience with database technologies such as MongoDB.
  7. Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  8. Software Development Lifecycle: Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  9. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  10. Message Brokers: Experience with message brokers such as Kafka.
  11. DevOps Practices: Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Education:

  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Master's Degree: Master's degree preferred.
