Position Summary: The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is seeking dedicated temporary, part-time, and/or full-time instructors for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This is an opportunity to channel your nursing expertise into a significant role that involves teaching, mentoring, and guiding the future generation of nurses.
Duties & Responsibilities: We are looking for individuals with expertise in Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Perinatal, Pediatrics, and Community Health across various educational contexts, including simulation, clinical, and theoretical settings. Join our innovative team of educators who are committed to implementing labs, practicums, and blended learning strategies in our curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Perinatal, Pediatrics, or Community Health.
- A Master's degree is preferred for candidates aiming for regular/permanent status; however, BCIT welcomes applicants currently enrolled in a Master's program or those planning to enroll and complete their degree within a specified timeframe. One degree must be in Nursing. Candidates with only a BSN may be considered with limitations.
- Experience in post-secondary education, particularly in facilitating simulation and utilizing educational technologies, is an asset.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and various instructional delivery methods.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English.
- A strong commitment to teaching excellence and student support.
- Willingness to participate in Faculty of Nursing meetings and initiatives.
- Ability to travel to assigned clinical practice locations.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Learning Content Management Systems (e.g., Learning Hub, Blackboard).
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Completion of formal teaching-related courses such as Provincial Instructor Diploma, CASN's Nurse Educator, Clinical Instructor, or Simulation Educator course.
- Interest in applied research.
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Current CPR (HCP) certification and Respiratory Fit Mask Test.
- A comprehensive understanding of BC College of Nurses and Midwives practice standards, including Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and Anti-racism, with a commitment to uphold these standards.
- BCIT's nursing program is dedicated to enhancing Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism in nursing through the integration of relevant leading practices and principles.
Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.
