Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at Canadian Tire - Campbell River, BC (Store #437). As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions efficiently, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provide friendly and courteous service to customers, responding to their inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Smile, make eye contact, and greet customers by name where possible.
    • Direct customers to the location of requested items and suggest value-added and related products to enhance their shopping experience.
    • End transactions efficiently and accurately, handling cash, credit card transactions, and other payment methods.
  • Operations
    • Operate a cash register and point-of-sale system, processing transactions and handling customer returns and exchanges.
    • Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices, and accurately process customer purchases.
    • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the cash area and surrounding merchandise displays.
    • Report any security issues or concerns to management and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Requirements
    • Basic math and typing skills, with the ability to work efficiently with computerized systems.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
    • Experience in a customer service role and/or with a retail store is considered an asset.
    Requirements and Qualifications
    • Education
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Skills and Abilities
      • Strong orientation towards customer service excellence and a positive attitude.
      • Ability to multitask, adapt, and cope with challenging situations.
      • Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to maintain professional communication in challenging situations.
    • Physical Demands
      • Standing and walking for up to 8 hours, with the ability to lift and carry merchandise items as required.
      • Ability to go up and down a ladder and stairs while carrying merchandise.
