Job Title: Hardware Lab IT Technician

We are seeking a skilled Hardware Lab IT Technician to join our team. As a Hardware Lab IT Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day operation of a hardware lab, ensuring its functionality, and supporting the research team in their experiments and projects.

About the Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing regular hardware condition inspections, documenting component health status, conducting device inventory, troubleshooting software issues, hardware problems, and network connectivity issues, setting up new computers, installing necessary software, and ensuring network connectivity, checking and updating the OS, drivers, and firmware of systems for optimal performance, conducting security checks, running antivirus scans, and updating security protocols, regularly backing up important data, managing IT equipment inventory, and documenting processes, implementing and maintaining virtual machines, databases, and storage services, communicating with vendors for hardware and software purchases and issue resolution.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computers or engineering, and at least one year of experience in a hardware lab environment. You should be proficient in Office 365 for business communication, data analysis, and document creation, and have knowledge of commonly used Linux/Windows commands for computer and resource configuration. Experience with SSH, VirtualBox, and Docker for IT asset management is also preferred. Familiarity with IPMI and experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Azure CLI, and Azure Portal are also desirable.
