AML Model Validation Manager

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled AML Model Validation Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Model Validation & Approval area, you will be responsible for providing individual and consistent model validation and approval across various risk types.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform individual validation of AML models across the enterprise, including transaction monitoring, client risk rating, sanction screening, and watch list.
- Deliver model validation solutions according to work plans, identifying material improvement opportunities in model inputs.
- Review and provide opinions on the soundness and use of models, developing thorough model validation reports.
- Prepare necessary documentation related to validation assignments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of archived information.
- Assist the team in effectively disputing model developers and stakeholders, and resolving outstanding audit and regulatory issues.
- 1+ year of experience in data management or data architect, with familiarity and comfort handling large data.
- 1+ year of experience in model development and/or validation.
- Working knowledge of AML related regulatory requirements is preferred.
- Ability to effectively utilize relational databases for data analysis and write complex SQL queries.
- Proficiency in constructing and executing distributed queries from various databases/sources.
- Strong experience or background in data analysis and statistical techniques.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, VBA, MATLAB, etc.
- Experience with Oracle Mantas AML solutions or knowledge of AML models and tools is an asset.
- Effective time management and ability to work independently as well as a team player.
- Constructive conflict management ability and effective presentation and communication skills.
- Advanced degree in quantitative disciplines, for example, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering (CAMS) designation is an asset.
