Position Overview
We are in search of a Design Technology Specialist who will play a crucial role in applying specialized design technology methodologies tailored to specific projects. This position will involve indirect reporting to the firm-wide Advanced Technologies Group.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Offer expert guidance and advice to project teams regarding the implementation of cutting-edge design technology methods.
  2. Provide constructive feedback on project-related activities to the Advanced Technologies Group.
  3. Serve as a resource and collaborator throughout all project phases.
  4. Stay updated on design software advancements, industry trends in integrated practice, and relevant techniques.
  5. Dedicate time to exploring new and emerging technologies.
  6. Contribute to the creation of project deliverables as needed.
  7. Act as a mentor, inspiring and coaching project team members in the application of advanced technologies.
  8. Commit to promoting a sustainable workplace through eco-friendly practices.
Architecture Discipline Responsibilities
  1. Utilize specialized knowledge to perform intricate modeling, data management, analysis, and optimization for architectural designs, including building massing and exterior enclosures.
  2. Conduct specialized design analyses such as pedestrian/egress simulation, sustainable design assessments, or code compliance evaluations.
  3. Employ specialized expertise to create rich interactive visual experiences across various mediums, including traditional (interactive and 2D video) and XR (AR, MR, VR) technologies.
  4. Develop interactive visualization content using the latest game engine technologies.
  5. Utilize business intelligence tools to conduct comprehensive analyses of project-related data.
Required Qualifications
  1. Advanced proficiency in building information modeling software and related techniques.
  2. Expertise in Revit is essential.
  3. Strong skills in 3D modeling and analysis software, including the ability to configure applications effectively.
  4. Knowledge of sustainability practices, integrated design principles, and LEED guidelines.
  5. Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
  6. Strong communication and presentation skills.
Additional Information
  • Travel may be necessary.
  • Possession of reliability security clearance or the ability to obtain it is required for this role.
  • Overtime may be necessary.
  • The responsibilities and requirements outlined in this document may be modified or supplemented at the discretion of HOK.
Education & Experience
  1. A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, information technology, or a related field is required.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in BIM/3D modeling is necessary.
  3. LEED accreditation or Green Associate certification is preferred.
