Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Informatics Specialist to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing and a deep understanding of clinical informatics principles.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A recognized nursing degree and current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
  • At least three years of recent experience in a healthcare environment, with a strong focus on clinical informatics, clinical change management, and project leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical, operational, and vendor staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of new trends in clinical practice and information systems, with a strong understanding of quality improvement processes
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing clinical informatics solutions to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams to design and implement clinical change management initiatives
  • Providing technical support and training to healthcare staff on clinical informatics systems and applications
  • Conducting quality improvement initiatives to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to clinical practice
  • Staying up-to-date with new trends and developments in clinical informatics and information systems
