Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Animal Centres, this role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of BC SPCA programs and services within designated communities. The Senior Manager collaborates with various BC SPCA departments to implement provincial initiatives at the local level. Responsibilities encompass the management of animal services, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and humane education. Additionally, this position involves regular collaboration with other Senior Managers to maintain consistency in program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Management & Leadership:

  • Collaborate with provincial departments to ensure the effective implementation of BC SPCA programs and services.
  • Develop annual strategic and operational objectives that align with the overarching Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development of direct reports.
  • Serve as the community representative for BC SPCA initiatives, employing effective change management strategies.
  • Champion health, safety, and wellness within the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide guidance to enhance outcomes.
  • Identify community needs and promote BC SPCA's mission through active participation in local events.
  • Ensure effective communication and accountability regarding Large Scale Animal Intake (LSAI) files.
  • Act as the face of BC SPCA at community events and in media interactions.
  • Provide coverage for other Senior Managers as needed.
Administration & Financial Management:
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) within the assigned area.
  • Manage the area budget and contribute to departmental budgeting processes.
  • Ensure facilities are well-maintained and assist with capital improvement requests.
  • Support local animal control and kenneling contract management.
  • Develop business cases for new initiatives and present them to relevant authorities.
  • Represent the area on internal and external committees as assigned.
  • Plan and execute fundraising activities in collaboration with designated personnel.
  • Support organizational fundraising efforts and address stakeholder inquiries.
  • Engage with Regional Councils through regular meetings and communication.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business, Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in budget management, change management, fundraising, and relationship management.
  • Background in non-profit organizations, animal welfare, or volunteer management is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership skills with a history of building high-performing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution and public speaking.
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Alignment with the vision and mission of the BC SPCA.
