Assistant Professor Position in Asian North American Literature

The Department of English at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Asian North American Literature. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Asian North American Literature, including introductory and advanced seminars, and supervise graduate students.
- Conduct innovative and independent research in Asian North American Literature, with a focus on creative writing, critical race studies, diaspora and transnational studies, digital humanities, or poetry.
- Establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
- Contribute to the Department of English's vibrant scholarly community, committed to anti-racist research and pedagogy.
- PhD degree in English with a focus on Asian North American Literature or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in both teaching and research, with a strong publication record in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards.
- Strong teaching and research skills, with the ability to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Applicants must submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials and teaching evaluations), a research statement outlining current and future publication interests, and a recent substantial writing sample (e.g., article or book chapter).
