Medical Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Addiction Medicine Specialist to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide evidence-informed withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care in an outpatient withdrawal management setting.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our inter-professional clinical team to assess and manage substance use disorders, develop and implement care and discharge plans, and provide trauma-informed and culturally safe care.

Responsibilities- Assess and manage substance use disorders, including withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care
- Work collaboratively with the clinical team to develop and implement care and discharge plans
- Provide trauma-informed and culturally safe care to patients
- Develop and implement brief interventions related to substance use and concurrent disorders
- Maintain timely, clear, and accurate health records in adherence to Nova Scotia Health documentation policies
- Current medical license issued by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Current certification in addiction medicine through one of the following professional organizations: College of Family Physicians Canada (CFPC) Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) for Addiction Medicine (AM), American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) certification, or International Society of Addiction Medicine (iSAM) certification
- Must hold, or be willing to obtain, active credentials and privileges with NSHA
- Must maintain liability insurance through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
