Job Title: Part-Time Teacher-Tutor

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18 - $20 / hour

Schedule:

  • Evenings
  • Monday to Friday
  • Saturday availability

Job Summary:

Oxford Learning Centres, Inc. is seeking a part-time teacher-tutor to work with Elementary and High School students. As a teacher-tutor, you will have the opportunity to work with students in reading, writing, math, and French, as well as High School students in math, physics, chemistry, biology, and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in High School grades
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times

Requirements:

  • Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
  • Commitment through to the end of the school year
  • In-person instruction
  • Ability to commute to the designated location
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
