Position Summary
MDA Space (TSX:MDA) stands at the forefront of the global space sector, recognized for its pioneering work in robotics, satellite systems, and geointelligence. With over 55 years of innovation and more than 450 successful missions, MDA Space is a leader in communications satellites, Earth observation, and space exploration.
We are currently seeking an Inspector for Incoming Electronics to join our Satellite Systems team in Montreal.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in activities related to the inspection of incoming electronic components to ensure they meet compliance standards as per our established processes and specific program requirements. Additionally, the role may involve performing duties as a certifier, mechanical assembler, electromechanical assembler, micro-electromechanical assembler, production assistant, and general helper based on individual skills.
Level of Accountability:
The position follows structured work processes, requiring some analytical skills to select appropriate methods from established procedures.
Main Duties:
- Verify compliance of all purchased components and associated documentation in accordance with purchase order specifications.
- Maintain traceability within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Review document revisions as necessary (CFC).
- Conduct inspections of machined parts based on drawings and standards, performing minor rework as needed.
- Carry out adhesion testing on coatings and verify plating documentation.
- Execute trigonometric calculations to relate drawing specifications to the use of manual and automated measuring instruments.
- Inspect sub-component assemblies and completed or in-progress assemblies for adherence to standards and specifications.
- Prepare non-conformance reports, follow up, and take corrective actions.
- Assess connector retention, wire tension, and continuity of cables, wires, and harnesses.
- Assist the Quality Assurance team in various tasks.
- Support research and development initiatives.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading technical plans.
- Understanding of tolerances and geometric dimensioning principles.
- Familiarity with quality assurance principles and methodologies.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards as applicable.
- Competence in data entry and retrieval using computer systems.
- Experience with production databases.
- Strong command of the French language.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- A college diploma or vocational studies diploma in electronics, mechanics, aeronautics, or a related field.
- Two to five years of relevant experience.
- Basic English proficiency is considered an asset.
Additional Information:
Candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass a security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
