Recreation Therapist

The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is seeking a Recreation/Activation Worker to provide engaging and meaningful activities for residents. This role involves planning and implementing recreational and social programs that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of residents. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure resident care plans are focused on quality of life, optimal health, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct person-centered assessments to develop programming that meets the unique needs of residents.
- Evaluate and refine programming to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
- Plan and implement activities that promote socialization, leisure, and recreation for residents.
- Document events, activities, and interactions with residents on a daily basis.
- Provide bi-weekly updates on activities to the Administrator.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to plan activities and share information.
- Assist with preparing residents for outings and provide support with daily tasks.
- Book transportation as needed for planned activities.
- Escort residents on outings as assigned.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
- Computer skills and ability to work well with others.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to motivate staff and clients.
- Reliability and conscientiousness.
- Ability to work weekends as required.
